Nancy Sinatra, daughter of Frank Sinatra, released it as a singled backed with “The City Never Sleeps at Night” and on her 1966 album Boots. And in 1966, the song went to #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, the U.K. Singles Charter, and the Australia Chart. It went to #3 in Italy. The song has had many covers in many genres, including versions for Loretta Lynn, Jessica Simpson, Geri Halliwell, The Residents, Megadeth, Dika Newlin, Jewel, Nicki Gillis, Operation Ivy, Parquet Courts, and KMFDM.
