Time for some good Beach Music! The song “Give Me Just a Little More Time” by was written by Edythe Wayne and Ron Dunbar; it was produced by the Holland-Dozier-Holland team of Lamont Dozier with brothers Brian and Eddie Holland. They had a large part in creating the Motown sound and some of that Seventies soul music. Edythe Wayne was the name Holland-Dozier-Holland gave themselves because of a lawsuit with their former employers at Motown “Give Me Just a Little More Time” was the debut single for The Chairmen of the Board, a Detroit-based soul music group. The song was released in 1970 backed with “Since the Days of Pigtails & Fairytales.” In 1970, the song peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and #8 on the R&B Singles chart. It also went to #3 in the U.K. They also released the song on their 1970 album Chairmen of the Board. There have been numerous covers of the song, including versions by Kylie Minogue and Angela Clemmons.
The Chairmen of the Board at the time included General Norman Johnson, Danny Woods, Eddie Custis, and Harrison Kennedy. Instrumentation was provided the session musicians The Funk Brothers.
